-38o F this morning in Fairbanks, Alaska. No chance of starting the truck, but it is a good chance to add some updates here. I am playing with a new band (check the sidebar for dates) working on some solo material, and generally very much enjoying getting back into performing.
I have added an April, 2008 performance of O Me! O Life! by The Esoterics under the direction of Eric Banks to the Audio page. This was a fantastic experience, and I am very grateful to have been able to work with such a dynamite group.
The Solar Energy Industries Association has launched a website highlighting jobs in solar, and wanting someone for every state, I suppose I was one of the only people they could scrounge up in Alaska. You can check out the interview here. It is a pretty neat site and interesting to see all the different types of work that goes into solar energy.

Years of neglect have pushed this site to the brink of irrelevancy, but I am back and hoping to make it worthwhile again.
Since I have meaningfully updated the information of this site I have:
- Quit my job.
- Quit my apartment.
- Quit it all and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska.

Ok, that's not actually Fairbanks, but it's Alaska, and it's nearby, and it's really amazing here. I began work for a small company, ABS Alaskan, here in downtown Fairbanks. In my first week I have built an obscenely tall two-axis solar tracker...

...visited one of the most amazing and efficient houses in North America (seriously, the owner had someone from an energy efficiency building trades organization visit and certify his place,) worked on an amazing, custom, rigged-up, genius waterwheel, and been through Battery Boot Camp. If it is batteries, these guys know it / service it / install it / can do it.

For ABS I will be working full time designing and installing various renewable energy systems in the interior of Alaska. Another huge ambition of mine is to get back to work in music, and soon and with a renewed energy that has been building for some time. The long, dark days and nights trapped inside for weeks this upcoming winter (record low in Fairbanks: -66°F) will hopefully prove conducive to some good working conditions...
And a taste of local culture for good measure.
